About

South Sudan is amongst the most disadvantaged countries. So much so that a significant proportion of the population are now living as refugees in neighbouring countries including Uganda. Just like us though the South Sudanese people are full of imagination and enterprise but because of their circumstances they find it hard to translate their ideas into practical businesses that would help the whole community move forward. Particularly, they lack access to some of the basic tools and knowledge that we largely take for granted about how you set up and run a small business.

That is where the charity Projects Delivering Hope (PDH) comes in. They run short term projects which give long term aid, including training courses and setting up Micro Finance Trust funds with partners Five Talents to small start-up businesses. Many of you will know Adrian Burholt from his work with Paym and other innovative payments initiatives over the last few years. He is a trustee of PDH and has persuaded Anne Pieckielon, David Core and his wife Barbara-Anne to help deliver the next business training course, to be held in Moyo, Uganda in July.

So how can you help? The usual way of course! We are looking to raise £5,000 to fund the training course and contribute to the micro-finance fund. All of these funds will go toward helping the South Sudanese help themselves, building practical businesses.
